Leaky Gut Syndrome
The gut (intestines) is important on so many levels.
All natural health care philosophies EXCEPT modern medicine know this to be true. The gut (and the nervous system) is considered the primary area to heal if you want to get well.
The spine and the gut are both filled with nerves.
The gut contains 100 million neurons - more than the spinal cord. Major neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, glutamate, norephinephrine and nitric oxide are in the gut. Also two dozen small brain proteins, called neuropeptides are there along with the major cells of the immune system.
Enkephalins (a member of the endorphins family) are also in the gut. The gut also is a rich source of benzodiazepines - the family of psychoactive chemicals that includes such ever popular drugs as valium and xanax.
The same chemicals are in the gut as the brain. They are connected by the Vagus nerve. So there is direct communication between the gut and the brain. You can change your brain chemistry by changing your gut chemistry.
The gut has also has “lymphoid tissue.” This is a major part of your immune system.
You could have gut problems but no major gut symptoms.
When the pH of the gut becomes too acidic, food doesn’t digest, it rots and burn little holes in the gut.
Then the undigested food leaks from the gut into the blood stream (leaky gut).
Undigested food should not be in the gut so your body attacks it. (This is a created allergy).
Since the proteins in the undigested food look like proteins from your nerve cells, your heart cells or any other cells; your body will attack those body parts too, so this is now an auto immune condition. Your body is now attacking itself.
The chemistry of the nerves in the gut will be recreated in the brain and now a gut problem will become a brain problem.
This is a chemically caused brain condition.
Brainwave Optimization:
So to get fully better we use brainwave optimization to balance the brain.
Herbs and Homeopathy:
At the same time we use homeopathy and herbs and supplements to repair the leaky gut and we use dietary changes so that you do not re-create the gut imbalance in the future.
Emotional Techniques:
Sometimes there are emotional conditions that can contribute to the gut issues so we use techniques like NET (Neuro Emotional Technique) to take the emotional charge off the body and gut as well.
How do we know if you have leaky gut?
There are several ways. One way is by using applied kinesiology and a review of your symptoms and some in office chemistry tests.
Sometimes the treatment is the test:
We can start you off on a program to heal the leaky gut including herbs and dietary changes and if the symptoms get better then probably have it. Since the treatment is non-toxic and actually good for you, it can only help.
Blood Tests:
You could take a specified blood tests but a rarely recommend it. The reason is the cost. It often costs less to treat the leaky gut than to do the test.
There are many ways to find out if you have gut problems without these expensive tests.
This is true for many blood tests. I find the best thing blood tests are for is patient compliance. When a patient sees that the blood tests are a problem how will comply with treatment better, but you really do not need these tests to figure out if the gut a your problem.
